We’re Lost In Music’s 2017 in Review

Hello!

Can you believe 2017 is over already?! We can’t. Perhaps it’s a sign of us getting older but the years seem to whiz by and, before we know it, it’s time for us to recap on our year of music once more. So, here goes…

We’re Lost In Music’s 2016 in Review

Hello!

In a year where we have lost so many greats, one thing is clear: while personal tastes and beliefs may differ, there is one consistent factor that unites us all – music.

Let us all be thankful for the impact and contributions of those figures who have made musical history – David Bowie, Glenn Frey, George Martin, Prince, Leonard Cohen, Rick Parfitt, George Michael, to name just some of those lost this year – and hope that there are no more announcements in the few days before the year is out. These figures have shaped music as we know it today and who knows who, if anyone, will go on to make equal or greater impacts.

While we may not have seen the next David Bowie (not suggesting there could ever be a ‘next’) perform live this year, this does not mean we have not witnessed some tremendous talent. Here is the summary of our 2016 in music…

Sunset Sons

KOKO and The Mason’s Arms, London (6th and 7th April 2016)

We first came across Sunset Sons last summer when we spotted them doing an interview at Boardmasters festival – at the time we had no idea who they were (to be completely honest, Kate basically spotted a guy with a beard, which turned out to be Rory…) We did however see them play the main stage the following day and realised we already knew and loved She Wants. The rest is history and we’ve been big fans of the boys ever since.

We’re Lost In Music’s 2015 in Review

Hi everyone!

It’s that time again, as the curtain falls on 2015, we take a look back over the incredible musical experiences we have been lucky enough to be a part of…

The Strypes at The Dome: quite simply, a class act

The Strypes

The Dome, London (2nd June 2015)

Ahh The Strypes. One of those bands you feel might get you arrested just for watching them…

The Strypes_The Dome_Tufnell ParkWe say this as these boys (Ross Farrelly, Josh McClorey, Pete O’Hanlon and Evan Walsh) are young: very young. With a combined age that doesn’t even hit 80, you might easily jump to the conclusion that they’re not going to be up to much.

You’d be wrong though – what these boys lack in age, they make up for in enthusiasm and attitude and, most importantly, talent!!

OK Go

KOKO, London (13th February 2015)
With support from Oscar and the Wolf

How did I not know about OK Go sooner?

That’s a good question; the boys (Damian Kulash, Tim Nordwind, Andy Ross and Dan Konopka) have been together for the last 17 years! Sometimes though a good thing goes unnoticed until you stumble across it unaware.

So what did you find?

Formed in Midwest America (Chicago to be precise), the boys have experimented with various sounds throughout their career but are largely described as an alternative rock band – something which is evident when you consider they have toured with the likes of Kaiser Chiefs to the Music to Panic! At The Disco in the past.
