Can you believe 2017 is over already?! We can’t. Perhaps it’s a sign of us getting older but the years seem to whiz by and, before we know it, it’s time for us to recap on our year of music once more. So, here goes…
We’re Lost In Music’s 2016 in Review
Hello!
In a year where we have lost so many greats, one thing is clear: while personal tastes and beliefs may differ, there is one consistent factor that unites us all – music.
Let us all be thankful for the impact and contributions of those figures who have made musical history – David Bowie, Glenn Frey, George Martin, Prince, Leonard Cohen, Rick Parfitt, George Michael, to name just some of those lost this year – and hope that there are no more announcements in the few days before the year is out. These figures have shaped music as we know it today and who knows who, if anyone, will go on to make equal or greater impacts.
While we may not have seen the next David Bowie (not suggesting there could ever be a ‘next’) perform live this year, this does not mean we have not witnessed some tremendous talent. Here is the summary of our 2016 in music…

Jackmaster Presents Tweak-A-Holic
XOYO, London (2nd April 2015)
Last night Jackmaster returned to XOYO to present another of his Tweak-A-Holic nights. A real throwback to everything that was great about music in the 80s, we can honestly say that we haven’t had that much fun in ages!

Friday night was one of those dream line ups – the Hessle Audio boys (Ben UFO and Pearson Sound) joined by Jackmaster in Room 1 at Fabric. Don’t just take our word for it – even Four Tet and Skream turned up to see the night play out!

Store Street, Manchester (27th September)

This weekend saw me return to Manchester for the opening night of Warehouse Project 2014. I was flying solo for this event as Wendy is currently soaking up the sun in Italy – not completely solo, of course, as Catriona was happy to step in to help me sample what WHP14 had to offer.
Having called Victoria Warehouse ‘home’ for the past couple of years, this year saw WHP return to its spiritual home, Store Street, for the period 27/09/14-01/01/15. A car park and old air raid shelter, the location under the railway arches of Piccadilly station offers the perfect site for an event of this type and scale and the organisers chose to return here in advance of next year’s major milestone – WHP’s 10th anniversary.
