Boardmasters 2015

Our summer synopsis: the festival edition

Artists, Bands, DJs, Festivals, Music

Well, we have been well and truly off the radar as we have thrown ourselves into making the most of our summer music plans – for that, we are sorry. But, we’re back, and we’ve just finished a flurry of photo uploading activity…which has reminded us just how many good events we’ve been lucky enough to attend. So, we thought we’d tell you what we thought of them.

Here we give you the festival edition…

Our recommendation for your weekend: Reviveher/ Tourist at Efes Snooker Club, London (Friday)

Artists, DJs, Music

We’ve got something pretty special for you this week – Reviveher/ Tourist presents Topazefimero with Rebolledo + Man Power at Efes.

You may have seen some of our recent posts introducing you to the mysterious DJ and producer Man Power – Berlin-based, he recently released his self-titled album on the Correspondant label. This is a rare opportunity to see him play live in London, one you shouldn’t miss out on! Add to this the fact that the night intends to recreate Mexican TOPAZdeluxe club across Europe in a serious of events across locations and geographies, this promises to be something pretty special. Not concerned only with the music, physical builds, digital technology and mixed media installations will also be used to add to the aesthetics and ambience of the evening.

For those of you that haven’t been to Efes before, the venue lends itself well to this event and, if we weren’t in Ibiza, we’d be there with bells on!

Get your tickets here.

And in the meantime, here’s Man Power’s Skattejag to get you in the mood…

Our recommendation for your weekend: Field Day festival, London

Artists, Bands, DJs, Festivals, Music

One of the best London day festivals, held in Victoria Park over two days. The perfect mix of live bands, DJ sets, food, people and fun to help kick off festival season in style.

We’ll be going on the Saturday and are most looking forward to seeing Caribou, Kindness, Spector, Django Django, Honne, John Talabot, Leon Vynehall…along with everyone else on the monumental line up!

Saturday and weekend tickets have sold out but there are still some tickets left for Sunday – get them here.

Here’s Caribou performing Can’t Do Without You the last time we saw them at Brixton Academy back in March to get you in the mood:

June means one thing – summer festival season is here!

Artists, Bands, DJs, Festivals, Music

It’s June! How is it June?! Pretty sure it’s still meant to be only February or some other month early in the year… But (there’s always a but), June does mean one very exciting thing – FESTIVAL SEASON HAS OFFICIALLY STARTED!!!!!

Ahhhh festival season: sun, (inevitably) rain, cider, Pimms, (supposed) cocktails, random food, quirky food, bad for you food, new friends, new trends, silly head-wear, hot pants and butt cheeks, ridiculously white sneaks, the never-ending quest to find a waterproof jacket, new music, old music, music we love, dancing, (shuffling,) laughing, singing, fairground riding…amazing memories being made!

Eastern Electrics 2014

There are so many festivals to choose from, it’s sometimes hard to decide whether to stick with what you know and love or try something new. Then you have the difficulty of deciding whether to stay on home turf or venture abroad. What to do, what to do…

This year, we’ve chosen to do a bit of both: we’ve got some of our faves in there and then some new adventures planned. Let the festival countdowns begin –

  • Field DayLondon, UK, Saturday 6th June – 5 days to go
  • Wild LifeBrighton, UK, Sunday 7th June – 6 days to go
  • SonarBarcelona, Spain, Thursday 18th June – 17 days to go
  • LoveboxLondon, UK, Saturday 18th July – 47 days to go
  • BoardmastersCornwall, UK, Friday 7th August – 67 days to go
  • V FestivalEssex, UK, Saturday 22nd August – 82 days to go
  • Dimensions FestivalPula, Croatia, Wednesday 26th August – 86 days to go

Please keep your fingers crossed for sun. We’ll see you in the field 🙂

We’re Lost In Music’s 2014 in Review

Hi everyone!

As 2014 draws to a close, it seems apt that we take a look back at what the year has had to offer.

You, you enchant me Sam Smith

Sam Smith

Eventim Apollo, London (7th November)

I hold my hands up – I have a real soft spot for Sam Smith. Hearing him sing, either recorded or live, quite often gives me goose bumps and makes me well up a little… I’m not ashamed of this; everyone has one of these artists (or at least should), BUT, I am sure he also annoys quite a lot of people due to his ‘nice guy’ persona  and multitude of famous friends.

Some bill him as ‘the new Adele’, others ‘that singer from the Disclosure record’ – Sam Smith_Eventim Apollohowever you want to describe him, I think you’d struggle to say that he comes across as anything other than a genuine (‘nice’) guy.

If you have been lucky enough to witness one of his live performances, you will likely add that he is very humble and appears to feel truly blessed for the position he is in. Unlike Adele, I think he appears to openly embrace the opportunity he has and seems much more willing to engage with his fans through social media and other mediums.

I will stop gushing now and move onto the gig: Sam’s second night playing Hammersmith’s Eventim Apollo and the final night of his UK tour.
