Edible NYD: A party by Eats Everything
Electric Brixton, London (1st January 2015)
Here at We’re Lost In Music, we believe you should begin the year the way you mean to go on…listening to great music and dancing your way into the early hours.
The start of 2015 was no different and we decided to continue our tradition with an 8 hour New Year’s Day set from the almighty Eats Everything.
As we set foot in the venue, we were concerned – although it was early, the crowd was 100% Shuffler (for those of you not au fait with the term ‘shuffler’, this may help). Shiny white trainers here, festival -wear there, it was hard to know where to look – we definitely felt out of place. While we may slowly but surely (and definitely secretly) be growing fond of the shuffle, we prefer a more mixed crowd at an event like this.
However, shufflers aside, the music caught our attention from the get go and it was clear that Eats had every intention of throwing everyone the party they had come for. Moving seamlessly through the genres, there was something to please everyone; deep house, tech house, disco – whatever your cup of tea, Eats was happy to serve it up. (See below for our top tracks of the night.)
Eats is an infectious person to watch on the decks – never standing still, he likes to party as much as his crowd. A novel addition to the night was the cardboard Edible crown – at one point the dancefloor was awash with bobbing red heads, matching Eats’ enthusiasm!
Electric Brixton was a good venue to host the event. With the DJ booth set up on the opposite side of the main room from the stage, it offered everyone ample space for dancing. That was, if you could actually find your way to the main dancefloor…there was a moment at the start of the night where we got lost in the maze of back corridors trying to get downstairs from the upstairs cloakroom!
How exactly the venue can justify charging what it does for drinks though is beyond us (£5.20 for a 330ml can of cider or £3.50 for a 500ml bottle of water anyone?!) A rethink is definitely in order there!
Overall, a great start to the year and we look forward to partying again with Eats soon 🙂
